Sports Injury Rehab
Sports injury rehab treats the sprains, strains, tendon problems, ACL tears and running injuries that come from sports and training, then builds you back up for your sport. Elevate615 provides sports physical therapy in Franklin, Brentwood and Nashville for athletes of every age, from youth players to weekend competitors, with a plan that goes past the pain to the return to sport.
Common athletic injuries, by body part
Whatever the athletic injury, the plan starts with finding what caused it.
Knee and ACL injuries
Runner’s knee, ligament sprains and ACL rehab, before or after surgery. See knee pain.
Shoulder injuries
Rotator cuff irritation, instability and overhead pain from throwing, swimming or lifting. See shoulder pain.
Foot, ankle and shin
Sprained ankles, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis and shin splints. See foot and ankle pain.
Hip and groin
Tightness and pain that limit your stride, your squat or your swing. See hip pain.
Back pain from training
Sled pulls, heavy lifts and long races can load the back. See back pain.
Tendon and overuse problems
Tendonitis and overuse injuries often respond to a change in load, strength work, dry needling and Class IV laser.
Running injuries, lifting injuries and the “too much, too soon” problem
The most common cause of a running injury is too much, too soon: a race on the calendar, a few strong weeks, then an ache that will not go away. Runner’s knee, Achilles tendinopathy, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, IT band pain and stress reactions are the ones we see most. A running assessment looks at your gait, strength and training plan before small problems turn into stopped training.
Lifters and hybrid racers get hurt the same way: volume and load rise faster than the tissue can adapt. If you keep modifying your workouts around pain, the Return-to-Training Roadmap works out what is driving it and how to progress safely.
Youth and high school athletes
A youth sports injury looks a lot like an adult one, plus the strain of growing and playing a lot. Payton Azbell, our athletic trainer and physical therapist, works with youth athletes recovering from injury, and our performance team trains players on strength, movement and injury prevention. Ask about what fits your athlete’s sport and season.
From injury to the field: how rehab at Elevate615 is built
Easing the pain is the first step, not the finish line. The plan carries on until you are doing your sport again.
Treat the injury
Hands-on manual therapy and, when it fits, dry needling or Class IV laser ease pain and stiffness so you can train.
Rebuild strength and load
Progressive strength loading and therapeutic exercise bring the injured area back to what your sport demands.
Return to sport
A graded progression back to the lifts, runs or swings you care about, with the sport-specific work done through performance therapy.
Prevent the next one
We fix the strength, mobility and training gaps that let the injury happen in the first place.

“Our family can't say enough good things about Elevate615! We trust them with just about everyone in our family. They work with my kids for their hockey training and performance, and it's been amazing to see the confidence, strength, and movement they've developed. …”
What our return-to-training assessment answers before you go back
Readiness is a decision made from your own findings, not from the calendar.
- What is actually driving the pain
- Which movements are safe right now
- What to pause for a short time
- What to train to rebuild capacity
- The progression back to full training
Working with your coach, your trainer and your doctor
If you are typing “sports PT near me,” we see athletes at our Franklin, Brentwood and Nashville clinics. Bring your training program. We blend corrective exercises into the routine you already follow so you keep training while you recover, and we adjust the progression with you as things change. If your injury needs a physician’s involvement or imaging, we tell you and coordinate. Tennessee allows direct access, so you can start with us first.

Go to the ER, or see a doctor first, if you have
- A visibly out-of-shape limb, or you cannot put weight on it
- A head injury with confusion, vomiting or loss of consciousness
- A hot, swollen calf, or sudden shortness of breath
You do not need a physician referral to start physical therapy at Elevate615: Tennessee allows direct access. If longer care later needs a physician involved, we coordinate with them.
